First Week

For my first task, Lizzie’s got me making some model bindings. One is on raised cords and is going to be a copy of an historical model that Lizzie had made – a full leather binding. The other is on recessed cords, and made with thicker waste paper, and will be a half leather binding. I’ve practiced two different types of endband sewing – primary with two colours on a flat core of leather/vellum, and primary with secondary sewing in two colours over a cord core. I’ve laced the boards in and given the larger binding a hollow, and today I dyed some leather for the historical model. Here are some pictures:
